'Red Light On Gaadi Off': Delhi launches campaign to cut down on air pollution

In view of the increasing levels of air pollution in the national capital, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal launched a new anti-pollution campaign on Thursday.

The campaign will encourage people to switch off the engines of their vehicles while they are waiting at the traffic signals.

Kejriwal said the government will launch a massive campaign - 'Red light on, Gaadi off' - to make people aware of the efficacy of the action and to ensure its success.

A layer of smoky haze lingered over the national capital and the adjacent areas on Thursday.

The air quality in the region took a hit as it reached 'very poor' levels.
